TRIALS BIKES, THE ECO-FRIENDLY TRAIL EXPLORERS

Trials bikes make almost no impact to sensitive terrain.
At around 70kg in weight the Trials bike has a light footprint and is a eco-friendly way to travel off road. Trials bikes are very quiet, light enough to lift over obstacles and their ultra low pressure 'sticky' tubeless tyres leave barely a mark on the surface of the ground. The wide and extremely flexible trails bike tyres are run at less than 5psi, giving trails bikes comparable ground pressure per cm as a mountain bike.
Unlike knobbly tyres fitted to enduro bikes the the special tubeless radial ply construction of the trails tyre is designed to provide traction without spinning. In fact so marked is this effect that trails bike riders will absolutely avoid any wheelspin to make more effective traction.
In our extreme explorations on trails bikes one of the constant problems we have is finding our way back along a route we have been following, as even the passing of a group of several trails bikes will leave so little disturbance as to be hard to spot.
Trials bikes are no speed demons, they are designed for low speed riding in very difficult terrain. They are uncomfortable to ride at high speed and the rider must spend all their time standing on the footpegs unless a special seat is fitted. Despite using no more fuel than a lawn mower, trials bikes have very small fuel tanks to keep bulk and weight to a minimum, so fuel range is limited. Trails bike exploring is usually confined to very rugged and steep conditions. In this type of going the trails bike is a safe and practical way of exploring rugged country, leaving almost no physical impact to the environment, though the same can not be said towards the rider.
In this section I will be highlighting the ways trails bikes can be used to tackle extreme terrain and take you further than you can ever go on any other motorcycle - all without making a mess in our beautiful back yard.
