The one day event is the simple and accessible end of trailriding. In most cases you can use any off road bike you choose, enduro, cross country or motocross and you won't need a licence, though you probably will have to sign an indemnity and in some places carry a fire extinguisher. One day rides are usually held on hill country farmland or over forestry tracks.
The rides may be organised by clubs or by rural service groups or schools as fund-raisers. Courses vary in length and complexity, some with several loops from a base point, though loops will never be over 50 km to suit most bikes fuel range.
